Water security transformation

What changes in a village we work in

Before Dilasa

  • One rain-fed crop a year, and only if the monsoon holds
  • Water tankers through the dry months
  • Wells and borewells running dry before summer
  • Seasonal migration in search of work
  • Debt from failed seasons, and distress that follows it
  • Women with no income of their own

After Dilasa

  • A second crop, grown on stored and recharged water
  • 95 villages that no longer need a tanker
  • Groundwater levels up by roughly one metre
  • Families staying, because the work is at home
  • Steadier income, and machinery affordable enough to use on time
  • 5,000+ women earning through Self-Help Groups
